The Freshman Math Study Hall program, new in 2010, helps students acclimate to Marquette High and ultimately become more successful in math.
The math study program is composed of approximately 20-25 freshman students and functions as a student's study hall period. If it is determined that an incoming freshman student might benefit from extra teacher help in the area of math, he will be placed in the program. The intent is for further academic development, not remedial learning.
The study hall will be staffed by math teachers who will be available to help students with individual tutoring. It is important to note that assistance from math tutoring does not take the place of the necessary learning in the classroom, but supplements and supports the primary instruction. Thus, it is vital for students to give their best effort and attention in class each day. Students may work on other subjects during the study hall as well, The intent of the program is to make additional math resources available to students who would most benefit from them.
