The Strength of Marquette University High School
The Noack Strength and Fitness Center is a 4400 sq. ft. performance and wellness facility available to the Marquette University High School community. Students, alumni, faculty, and staff all have the opportunity to use the facility, which includes strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment, all the tools needed for improving health and fitness levels.
Teams and athletes make use of the facility on a regular basis year round. Programs are designed for each sport and modified for all levels during the in season and off-season. The goal is to maximize athletic performance and minimize injury by improving strength, power, speed and agility. Athletes also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs exclusively for MUHS students. These programs include a speed and agility camp, vertical jump camp, advanced training sessions (plyometric, medicine ball and cardiovascular workouts, Olympic lifting development) and a powerlifting team.
Students not involved in MUHS athletics are encouraged to make use of the fitness center as well. Fitness programs geared toward lifelong fitness and health can be designed and modified based on a fitness assessment to accommodate any level. Developing the student’s mind and body through physical activity and involvement in the fitness center is a benefit that will stay with the student throughout life.
For incoming freshmen, there are several opportunities to get a head start using the fitness center. A three-week camp during the month of June gives freshmen technique instruction, safety guidelines, basic speed and agility training, and the opportunity to continue using the fitness center prior to the school year. There are also several speed and agility camps and a powerlifting camp held exclusively for freshmen.
The Noack Strength and Fitness Center programs and camps are directed and supervised by full time strength and fitness coordinator Mike Duehring. Coach Duehring has a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science – Human Performance and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
