Jesuit Honor Society Inducts New Members

The Jesuit High School Honor Society held its formal induction ceremony of new members on April 17 in the Three Holy Companions Chapel. Students were formally inducted in recognition of their selection as young men who represent the qualities of the Graduate at Graduation. The new members are:

Math Club's Success includes three 1st-place finishes

The Marquette Math Club had a very successful year! Marquette teams took 1st place in the Wisconsin Math League, at MSOE, at the Marquette Fall Math Meet, and at the Wisconsin Math Council State Math Contest. Team leaders included Ben Lowe, Michael Drakopoulos, Joey DeGuire, Jack Kegel, Alex Sprenger, Keegan English and Andrew Puck. Special recognition goes to Ben Lowe, who finished 2nd in the State on the Wisconsin Math League Contests, and Michael Drakopoulos, who tied for 4th. Ben and Michael also scored high on the American Invitational Math Exam. Ben tied for 1st in Wisconsin and Michael tied for 3rd. Freshmen Tyler Nettesheim and John Heffernan also did outstanding work. Tyler solved 28 out of 30 challenging Continental Math League problems, and John finished 7th in Wisconsin out of over 500 9th and 10th graders in on the American Mathematics Competition’s AMC 10 Contest. Math Teacher Mr. Joe Griesbach is the Math Club moderator.

Dave Mathews Band Sax Player Leads Music Workshop

Jeff Coffin, an internationally recognized saxophonist, bandleader, composer and educator, presented a music clinic to MUHS students April 18, 2012. Coffin performed with Jazz Lab students during morning class periods followed by a Q&A session during the lunch hour. Both activities were held in the school’s Wimmer Rehearsal Hall and organized by fine arts teacher Randy Skowronski.
