Manresa Society

MANRESA SOCIETY

This is a group of people who, while providing for their loved ones, also have a desire to include Marquette University High School in their estate plans.

Alumni, parents, parents of alumni and friends comprise this group that wishes to leave a legacy to ensure a Jesuit, secondary education for future generations of young men in the Greater Milwaukee area. Manresa Society members are permanently recognized on a plaque in the school’s Recognition Hallway and invited annually to the President’s Club Dinner.

Please contact John Thimmesch '77, CFRE; Vice President of Development; 414-933-7220, ext. 3044 or if you are interested in more information about the Manresa Society.

The Story Behind the Name

It was here that the ideas and prayer experiences for what are now known as the Spiritual Exercises began to take shape. It was also here, along the banks of the Cardoner River, that he had a vision which is regarded as one of the most significant in his life. Shortly after his conversion, St. Ignatius of Loyola wanted to travel to Jerusalem where our Lord had spent His life on earth. Along the way, he stopped in a small Spanish town named Manresa where he intended to stay only a few days but remained for ten months.
