Kevin Cekanor ’15 to Run London Marathon to Support Dwarf Athletic Association of America

Marquette University High School alumnus Kevin Cekanor '15 is preparing to compete in the prestigious London Marathon on April 27, 2025, with a goal to raise $26,200—$1,000 per mile—for the Dwarf Athletic Association of America (DAAA).

Cekanor aims to complete the 26.2-mile race in 4 hours and 20 minutes, potentially making him one of the fastest little people ever to complete a marathon.

Cekanor received the Jesuit Schools Network award upon his graduation from Marquette High in 2015, recognizing his commitment to embodying Jesuit values. He hopes his marathon effort will inspire others to appreciate their unique talents and contribute positively to their communities.

The DAAA, a non-profit organization, hosts annual athletic competitions for individuals with dwarfism, creating opportunities for athletes nationwide and internationally to compete equally. Cekanor has participated in DAAA events since 2006, crediting the organization for igniting his passion for athletics.

"Running this marathon is a dream coming true, something unimaginable to my younger self," Cekanor said. "It was through the DAAA that I began to accept my differences and discovered joy in what I could accomplish rather than focusing on limitations.

"I hope to remind others that God has given us all a difference to make a difference in this world," he said.

All donations raised by Cekanor's marathon campaign will directly support DAAA programs. More information about Cekanor’s story can be found online, including details on how to contribute.
