Marquette High Class of 2024 Sets Scholarship Record

MUHS students in the class of 2024 received a record $15.1 million in first-year scholarships, averaging $79,500 per college-bound student.

The MUHS College Counseling department reports that 92% of students were awarded at least one merit-based scholarship, and 12 students were designated as National Merit Scholar finalists. Eleven students have accepted four-year full-tuition scholarships.

Students in the class of 2024 have been accepted to top colleges and universities, with more than two dozen graduates becoming the first in their families to attend college. The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University are the top two destinations for this year's graduates.

With a nationwide and international footprint, members of the graduating class were accepted to 200 colleges and universities in 44 different states, D.C., and Canada, including 22 Jesuit universities. Of this year’s graduates, 30 will enroll at UW-Madison, and 23 will attend Marquette University.

Other schools with the highest representation of graduates include the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Purdue University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, University of Notre Dame, Saint Louis University, Boston College, Fordham University, Creighton University, Loyola University Chicago, University of St. Thomas and the University of Alabama.

In total, members of the Class of 2024 will attend 68 unique institutions including Stanford University, Cornell University, Harvard University, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Rice University, University of Michigan, Morehouse College, US Naval Academy, Colorado School of Mines, Rochester Institute of Technology, the Merchant Marine Academy, and the University of Toronto. This year, 43 students are the sole MUHS graduates heading to their respective universities.

From the Class of 2024, a record 11 seniors were accepted into the All-In Milwaukee program from MUHS, and 10 of those students have accepted their spot and will be attending either UW-Madison or Marquette University this fall with tremendous academic, financial, and career support. They include Adrian Gallegos Coronado, Kue Xiong, Steven Lee, Luis Parra Rodriguez, Joseph Lara-Osorio, Jaloni Brown, Quoc Bao Vo, Britten Assigbley, David Martinez Rodriguez, and Javier Espino.

Other notable scholarship recipients include: 

  • Johnny Warren and Enzo Azzaline from the Class of 2024 earned the prestigious Evans Scholarship.
  • Judson Hansbrough, Britten Assigbley, Yusouf Gladney, and Julian Cottrel graduate from MUHS today as members of the Milwaukee Fellows Program, which will support them throughout their college experience.
  • 22 members of the Class of 2024 earned the Kelben Scholarship.
