Marquette University High School’s 2025-2026 Math Club earned standout results in the Wisconsin Math League, Catholic Math League, Wisconsin Mathematics Council State Meet and Trig*Star competition.
The biggest highlight of the season came in the Catholic Math League’s Advanced Math category, where MUHS placed first in the state, 1st in the region (Division 4) and 3rd overall nationally— the program’s best performance ever.
The Hilltoppers improved upon national finishes of 14th in 2024 and 8th in 2025.
Gavin Bartz ’27 was the Catholic Math League Advanced Math Division 4 Champion and also placed 5th overall out of 673 students. Bartz took first place individually in Class A at the Wisconsin Mathematics Council State Meet, helping MUHS secure the team title.
For the second year in a row, Arjun Patel ’26 was named the team’s Most Valuable Math Clubber following an outstanding senior season. Patel placed 18th individually in the Wisconsin Math League, finished eighth individually out of 673 students in the Catholic Math League, helped lead MUHS to a Class A team title at the Wisconsin Mathematics Council State Meet with a second-place individual finish, and placed second on the local Trig*Star exam.
Patel's senior season added to an impressive four-year Math Club career, which included a first-place individual finish at the Wisconsin Mathematics Council State Meet as a junior and a perfect score on the Trig*Star exam, where he placed second in Wisconsin on a time tiebreaker.
The season also marked the final year for three graduating four-year Math Club members: William Peelen ’26, Ethan-Jeffrey Lomo-Tettey ’26, Arjun Patel ’26, who also leave MUHS as valedictorian and salutatorians.
Lomo-Tettey closed his MUHS Math Club career with a strong senior season, including an 18th-place individual finish in the Wisconsin Math League, an 18th-place finish in the Catholic Math League and a top-10 finish at the Wisconsin Mathematics Council State Meet.
Peelen, a two-time Trig*Star school winner, also contributed throughout his four years and placed first in the school’s Trig*Star competition as both a freshman and senior.
Finn Daily '27 was the team's 3rd place finisher in Trig*Star.
The Math Club is moderated by Mr. Matt Jaques, math and economics teacher. The club is open to every grade level and anyone who wishes to join, especially those who share a love for solving difficult math problems and equations.

Guy Johnson ‘27 recently shared his research involving biomedical engineering and neuroscience at a Research Symposium held at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
