Orgullo Latino Attends Emergency Gun Violence Summit

Orgullo Latino members had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Emergency Gun Violence Summit at the Baird Center, sponsored by Forward Latino, Inc. and the 80% Coalition.

They met with leaders including Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Governor Tony Evers, Judge Pedro Colón, Reverend James T. Schuerman, and Mr. Darryl Morin, among others.

The summit deepened students’ understanding of the many dimensions of gun violence, including public perception, mental health, domestic violence, community intervention, and prevention efforts. They heard directly from survivors, law enforcement officers, judges, and community advocates, gaining valuable insight into how collaboration and empathy can help build bridges, resolve conflict, and create safer communities.
