Sharon deGuzman is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Baird Advisors, with over 35 years of investment experience. She serves as Chair of the MUHS Board of Directors, and her leadership extends across numerous civic and faith-based boards in the community including Catholic Charities, the American Red Cross SE WI and the American Lung Association. Her husband, Jim ’82, graduated from MUHS, and their five children attended Divine Savior Holy Angels and MUHS: Luke ’23 and William ’23, and daughters Nicole (DSHA ’15), Mara (DSHA ‘22) and Olivia (DSHA ’23).

John McDermott is the former Senior Vice President at Rockwell Automation, where he spent 39 years in leadership roles. He has served on several boards, including Divine Savior Holy Angels, the Skylight Opera Theatre and the MUHS Board of Directors from 2002-2008. An MUHS alumnus, he is married to DSHA alumna Chris Oldam-McDermott and is the father of MUHS and DSHA alumni John "Jack" McDermott '10, Joseph McDermott '06 and Erin McDermott-Stanek, a 2004 graduate of DSHA.

Anne Zizzo is the founder and CEO of Zizzo Group Engagement Marketing. She served on the Executive Committee of the MUHS Board of Directors, chaired its Marketing Committee from 2018 to 2024, and is the mother of MUHS alumni Johnny Zizzo ‘15 and Antonio Zizzo ‘17. Anne has also held leadership roles on multiple boards, including Froedtert Thedacare Health, Marquette University, and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee.

In his role as Associate PASE, Patrick Gallagher supports Jesuit secondary and pre-secondary schools in the Midwest Province in the areas of school governance, mission formation, and leadership development working closely with boards, presidents, principals, and mission formation officers. Prior to joining the Midwest Province office, Gallagher served for 16 years at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, where, among other achievements, he helped lead the academic focus of the school's strategic plan Vision '30.

Dr. Gonzalo Barinaga, Orthopedic Surgeon, Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin, MUHS Board

Dr. Gonzalo Barinaga is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity care at the Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Southern Illinois University, and pursued fellowship training in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Washington’s Harborview Trauma Center.

Dr. Barinaga is dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate care and to fostering excellence in education and leadership within his community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Marquette University High School, as well as on several hospital and administrative boards. A Wisconsin native and former Division I athlete, he brings a strong commitment to service, integrity, and the development of future leaders.

Mr. Tom Jackson, Theology Chair, Marquette High, MUHS Board. 

Tom Jackson has taught in the Theology Department at MUHS since 2018 and has been Department Chair since 2021. Prior to that, Tom worked at other schools and parishes in the Boston area. Originally from Pittsburgh, Tom has a BA in Comparative Religion from Harvard College and an MA in Theology from Notre Dame. Aside from teaching, Tom has served on the Faculty Senate and a number of committees over the years and is Co-director of the Kairos retreat program.

Fr. Joe Simmons, SJ, Assistant Professor of Theology, Marquette University, MUHS Board

Fr. Joe Simmons, SJ (‘00) taught Spanish at Marquette High School for two years after graduating from Marquette University, and before joining the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 2006.  He served on the MUHS board 2009-2011, and was privileged to return to the board in 2024.  Fr. Simmons currently teaches Theology at Marquette University.  

Ms. DeVona Wright Cottrell, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, GMR Marketing, MUHS Board

DeVona Wright Cottrell is chief legal officer and general counsel for Global experiential agency GMR Marketing and the Omnicom Experiential Group (OEG) more broadly. Wright Cottrell is a skilled attorney, results-oriented problem solver, and a passionate leader and mentor. As GMR’s Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, Wright Cottrell serves as the agency’s key corporate legal advisor, oversees the agency’s legal and risk management teams, and acts as a partner to agency leadership. 

Previous, Wright Cottrell was Director and Associate General Counsel of Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated.  She joined Baird in 2007 and had broad exposure to Baird’s businesses and primary legal responsibility for Baird’s Fixed Income Capital Markets business unit and provided legal support to several of the firm’s corporate resource groups, including Risk Management, Compliance and Facilities with regard to information security, privacy, regulatory and commercial real estate related matters. 

Outside of work, Wright Cottrell is mentor to many and serves in a number of professional affiliations and civic activities, including board member of TEMPO Milwaukee, First Federal Bank of Wisconsin, Marquette University High School, Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, and special counsel for Greater New Birth Church. Her accolades in the past few years are many and most recently include named  as one of  TEMPO Milwaukee’s 50 Most Influential Women and recognized by the Wisconsin Business Journal as a 2025 Power Player.

DeVona is also the proud wife of Jade Cottrell a greater Milwaukee educator and mother of Julian and Jayde.
