Services

The library staff provides reference and readers advisory services all hours of operation and the librarian collaborates with classroom teachers to deliver research skills instruction. Special programming includes book club, game nights, lecture series and after-school workshops. The library can accommodate up to 70 students at study tables and soft seating. Groups of up to five can sign out one of five group study rooms.

Resources

The library houses approximately 14,000 books, 600 audiovisuals, 30+ print magazines, 40+ research databases, and a variety of equipment including calculators, digital cameras, headphones, microphones, and Chromebooks. Students can also use the library to access 37 computers, four printers, and a self service photocopy machine.

Borrowing Privileges

The Marquette University High Student ID serves as the library card for the Doerr Library.

Resource Loan Periods

  • Books from the General Stacks: 21 days, may be renewed 1 time
  • Class Reserve: 1 day
  • Chromebooks: In school use only
  • Audiovisuals: 1 day with a note from teacher
  • New Magazines: In library use
  • Older magazines: 7 days
  • Equipment: 7 days with a note from teacher
  • Reference Books: 1 day

Overdue notices are sent via campus email every Monday morning. The library does not charge overdue fines. However, materials not returned at the end of each semester are considered lost and students are billed a replacement fee.

  • Paperback book: Replacement cost plus a five dollar processing fee
  • Hardbound book: Replacement cost plus a five dollar processing fee
  • Magazine: $5
  • Reference Materials: Replacement cost plus a five dollar processing fee
  • Equipment: Replacement cost plus a five dollar processing fee
