Dual Enrollment
Dual Credit at MUHS: Get Ahead of the Game
Marquette University High School offers dual credit classes to earn college credit while still in high school. Through partnerships with Marquette University and St. Louis University, students can challenge yourself with college level coursework, gain experience and save on future tuition. These classes are taught by MUHS faculty and meet university standards so it’s a smooth transition to college.
Nearly all students will have completed at least one AP or Dual Credit course by graduation.
Saint Louis university partnership
MUHS partners with Saint Louis University (SLU) to offer courses for dual credit. Dual credit programs allow a student to take classes at his high school while earning credits both for high school and at the college. SLU's 1818 program is nationally known with a long, respected history, and given SLU is a Jesuit institution, the 1818 program was a natural fit for MUHS.
These courses are determined on an annual basis by MUHS and SLU, and students should not select these courses with the expectation that they will be offered as dual enrollment. If a course is offered as dual credit students will register for SLU credit by the end of September. The registration process will be distributed to students and parents at the beginning of the academic year. Students are not required to take a MUHS course offered as dual enrollment course for college credit.
In 2023-2024, MUHS is able to offer 15 courses in which students have the opportunity to enroll for dual credit: AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Computer Science A, AP European History, AP Spanish Language, AP Spanish Literature, Literature of Great Britain, Faith & Reason, Honors Latin 4 & 5, Honors Spanish 4, Honors German 4 & 5, Multivariable Calculus, and Plays: Shakespeare. Since students are already enrolled in these courses for the 2023-24 school year, this is an additional option for them to earn college credits. There is no change to their daily schedules. The tuition for dual credit through SLU is greatly reduced from an on-campus course. If a student opts not to enroll in the dual credit option, he simply continues in his class as usual. If interested, students must register for dual credit for fall semester courses no later than Oct. 2.
For some AP courses, students may decide to opt out of the exam if they take the course for dual credit.
Students who want to register for college credit for authorized courses must meet the following conditions:
- Sophomores: Minimum of 3.5 GPA
- Juniors and Seniors: Minimum of 3.0 GPA
