Welcome to the Class of 2029!

We look forward to having you join the Marquette High Community. We will post information here to help you as you prepare to be a Hilltopper. If you have any questions as you begin your MUHS journey, please contact the Admissions Office at (414) 937-7800 or admissions@muhs.edu.

English Department Required Summer Reading

Summer reading is required for full-year and semester-long courses. The reading assignment for incoming freshmen should be completed by the first day of school:

  • In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner

Reading Comprehension Activities (RCA)

This RCA packet is designed to reinforce and extend basic literacy skills. In high school and college, students are expected to complete reading assignments independently on a daily basis. Students who deliberately develop strategies for reading comprehension are more likely to be successful academically across content areas.

All incoming freshmen can expect initial assessments in English I to be focused on the summer read. Completion of this packet during reading will provide students with a ready reference for class discussion and assignment/assessment completion. While most English teachers will not require or expect students to complete the reading guide, they may allow use of a completed reading guide during assessments.
