Tuition & Financial Aid

Because of our generous benefactors, each student enrolled at MUHS automatically receives a grant to offset tuition. In the 2025-26 school year, the actual cost to educate an MUHS student was $24,910, and the grant of $8,660 per student lowered 2025-26 tuition to $16,475.

Overall, half of families receive additional financial aid for students to attend Marquette University High School. Families apply for financial aid using the FAIR application (fairapp.com).

There are income limits for receiving assistance. However, each family’s unique financial situation is considered when assessing need.

The application is online. You will need the following to apply for financial aid:

• The MUHS School Code (238)
• The MUHS School Password (muhs238)
• A valid email address
• A credit card (Visa or Mastercard) to complete payment processing (non-refundable fee)
• A complete copy of your Federal Income Tax Return with all schedules and W-2's from the previous year

To begin the online application process parents should go to www.fairapp.com and click on the Online Application. You can then create a user account using your email address and a password that you select. Once you have created a user account and signed in you will be able to complete the FAIR application on-line.

There will be a $35 non-refundable processing fee required to apply for financial aid through an online application.

FAIR will require the previous year's federal tax return, and if applicable, will require business tax returns. The information that you provide will allow FAIR to accurately determine your family's need which remains the basis of our awards.

Yes, merit-based scholarships include the Magis, Beacon and Horizon Caddie Scholarships.

Magis
In the Jesuit tradition, Magis is a word meaning “more” or “excellence.” Students with a composite national percentile of 80 or above on the High School Placement Test (HSPT) will be awarded a Presidential Magis Scholarship for academic excellence. There are four levels of Magis scholarships ranging from $1,500-$4,500. This scholarship renews all four years for students who remain in good standing.

Beacon
The Beacon Scholarship is awarded to one student each year from the city of Milwaukee. The student must have high academic achievement (measured by middle school report cards and scoring in the 50th percentile or better on HSPT) and financial need as indicated by the FAIR application. This full tuition scholarship renews all four years as long as a student maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Horizon Caddie
The Horizon Caddie Scholarship is awarded to students with strong academic ability and demonstrated financial need. Academic achievement is measured by report cards, teacher recommendations, and a national percentile composite score of 80 or above on the HSPT. This scholarship covers 90% of tuition and is renewable all four years. Horizon Caddie Scholars are required to work as a caddie at a local golf club during the Summer, which earnings can be used for the remaining 10% The scholarship is designed to put the recipient on a path to potentially becoming an Evans Scholar with full tuition and housing at one of 24 universities after graduation.

The St. Ignatius Service and Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a maximum of 25 students in the incoming freshman class. This award is based on outstanding leadership in school, parish, and/or community organizations, and the applicant must demonstrate service beyond his school’s requirements. To earn this $2,000 scholarship, the incoming freshman must complete an application by November 1st of the admissions application year. The scholarship application includes a letter of recommendation from a teacher or mentor. The first 25 applicants to meet the criteria will earn this scholarship. Archdiocese High School Employee
If one or both parents work at a Catholic high school in the Milwaukee archdiocese, then the student will qualify for a tuition discount valued at 10% of the yearly tuition. There is a separate application to confirm employment at the Catholic high school.

National Italian Invitational Heritage Scholarship
The National Italian Invitational awards three $10,000 scholarships to deserving Italian-American high school students entering their sophomore, junior and senior years of parochial schools. Applications are typically due in May and are available on their website.

Yakich Scholarship
The Mary Alice Yakich Educational Foundation awards scholarships to students who demonstrate scholastic ability, outstanding character, and financial need. Applications will be available in the Admissions office in February and are due by April 1st.

Yes, Marquette High offers a 10-month tuition payment plan. This plan is designed to hold down tuition costs and ease the financial burden on families. The plan allows parents to determine the amount of tuition they will pre-pay prior to the beginning of the school year. The balance of the tuition, including a small fee, is then payable in 10 equal installments from July through April. Families can select a 10-month payment plan when submitting their student's electronic Enrollment Contract in the spring.

Families will be notified of financial aid awards in mid-January. 

Yes, Marquette High currently has about 151 students in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program. Families qualify for the Choice lottery by living in the City of Milwaukee and having income below a certain threshold. Families must apply each year in February and students are selected in a random lottery. Because we have a limited number of seats in each class, a random lottery is held each year to fill the seats. Once those seats are filled, students are placed on a waiting list.

Through the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP), funds are available to those families who meet certain criteria.

Yes, parents can deduct private school tuition on their state taxes, up to $4,000 per K-8 student and $10,000 per high school student. Make sure you don't miss out by inputting MUHS information on this form to file with your state taxes. FEIN# 39-0806826

The Financial Aid Committee reviews the recommendations and information provided by FAIR to determine the amount each qualified student will receive. MUHS cannot guarantee aid to all applicants. Awards are based on overall financial need (as indicated using federal tax forms) and timeliness of application.

If the dependents you list in Part II of the application will live primarily with you then you should complete the application form based on your income and household expenses.

If you have remarried you will need to complete the application and include information about the stepparent’s income, expenses, assets, and debt.

You should include all dependents currently living with you or for whom you are providing support. This includes older children attending college or any other relatives who are currently living with you that you are providing support to.

FAIR asks that each family applying for assistance provide their current Federal Income Tax return unless you have filed for an extension. If you have filed for an extension we will need you to provide us with a copy of the extension request, a copy of your previous year's Federal Income Tax return, and copies of your previous year's W-2’s.
