Saturdays with Ignatius
saturdays with ignatius
While St. Ignatius was recovering from his cannon ball injury, he wanted to read some chivalrous and romance novels. But the only two books available for him were a Life of Christ and the Lives of the Saints. As he read about the saints, he was attracted to their whole-hearted dedication to Christ and his mission. Then his competitive and imaginative spirit took over. “If St. Francis and St. Dominic could live such a dedicated
life and do such outstanding things, so can I.”
The saints, about whom St. Ignatius read, inspired him to follow Christ, to be more attentive to how Christ was leading him, and to live a life of service for others. So, beginning with the September Saturday with Ignatius, we will look at two saints in each session, a woman saint and a Jesuit saint. We will look at their lives, how faith undergirds their actions, and how they can inspire us to live more intentionally and
faithfully our Christian lives.
So, for us, through our conversation and reflection, the saints can deepen our faith so we will more generously love our brothers and sisters, be encouraged to live more intimately our relationship with Christ, and grow in an appreciation of the image of God in all men and women. As it states in the preface of the Mass for saints, they are our intercessors. So, we can ask for their support and encouragement as we live our Christian lives.

Athletic Hall of Fame Induction
History
For more nearly 165 years, Marquette University High School has provided thousands of young men with a solid Catholic, Jesuit education.
Throughout those years, the Jesuits and lay faculty have emphasized Christian values and rigorous study habits. This education was not limited to just classroom and chapel. Marquette High has sought to graduate the 'total person.' For those who remember their Latin:
Mens sana in corpore sano!
As a direct result of making athletics a vital component of its educational program, Marquette High has developed many outstanding athletes in a variety of sports. Further, as a part of its commitment to excellence in athletics, Marquette High has relied on the talents of coaches and athletic directors, who have been instrumental in the school's successful athletic program.
In order to preserve the athletic accomplishments of both teams and individual athletes, a group of alumni, coaches, friends and faculty founded the Athletic Hall of Fame in the spring of 1992 as a special tribute to those who have made contributions to the winning tradition of the Marquette "Hilltoppers."
