Cross country at state 2025

Marquette High cross country capped an outstanding 2025 season with a 3rd place finish at the WIAA Division 1 State Championship, marking the third consecutive state top 4 finish for the Hilltoppers.

Senior Brendan Reardon led the team with a 4th-place individual finish, clocking 15:36 and Junior Eli North followed with an 18th-place finish (16:11). Reardon’s fourth-place finish is the best by a Hilltopper at the state meet since Jake Erschen’s third in 2009, and his time stands as the fastest ever by an MUHS runner on the Ridges course.

The MUHS top 5 was rounded out by sophomore Charlie Kwiatt in 16:27, Senior Andres Campos in 16:47 and Senior Charlie Cary in 16:50.

The MUHS senior class concluded their career with 14th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd place finishes at state.

The Hilltoppers’ podium finish at state followed another successful fall in conference and invitational competition. MUHS swept the Greater Metro Conference Championships, winning both varsity and junior varsity titles. Their varsity team finished with a season record of 145-4.

Reardon successfully defended his conference crown in 15:17, the second-fastest time in school history, trailing only North’s 15:14 earlier this season. North (3rd) and Andres Campos (4th) also earned First Team All-Conference honors.

With this year’s third-place finish, Marquette has now placed in the top 4 at the WIAA Division 1 State Meet for three consecutive seasons, a stretch that includes 4th place in 2023 and 2nd place in 2024.
