MUHS Hockey to Open New Jim Kearney Locker Room

Locker Room

The Marquette University High School community is invited to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new Jim Kearney Locker Room at Eble Park Ice Arena on Monday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.

The event is open to the public and RSVPs are requested.

The new dedicated locker room gives the MUHS hockey program a permanent, professional-grade home and is designed around the day-to-day needs of Hilltopper student-athletes. The space features custom wood lockers with integrated ventilation, modern AV and film review equipment, enhanced security, and dedicated space for players to prepare before practices and games.

By allowing players to keep equipment securely on-site and game-ready, the facility will also reduce the need to transport hockey gear between school, home and the rink.

The locker room is named in honor of Coach Jim Kearney, recognizing his lasting impact on the MUHS hockey program and the generations of Hilltoppers he helped influence.

Meet New Head Coach Anders Bjork

The ribbon cutting comes as MUHS hockey welcomes new varsity head coach Anders Bjork.

Bjork, a Mequon native and former MUHS student, brings extensive high-level hockey experience to the Hilltoppers. He starred at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned NCAA All-American honors and was a finalist for both the Hobey Baker Memorial Award and Hockey Humanitarian Award. He went on to play six seasons in the NHL, including multiple seasons with the Boston Bruins, and represented the United States in international competition.

Bjork already has familiarity with the MUHS program, having served as a volunteer skills coach with the varsity team last season. He also co-founded 1848 Hockey Collective, a Milwaukee-area hockey training organization.

“I believe in building a foundation of discipline, accountability, and communication, while fostering an environment where players feel both supported and challenged to grow,” Bjork said. “These principles align directly with the Catholic mission of Marquette High and its goal of developing the whole person: student, athlete, and community member.”

Together, the addition of Bjork and the opening of the Jim Kearney Locker Room represent a significant investment in the future of MUHS hockey and the experience of current and future Hilltopper student-athletes.

Students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, hockey families and friends of MUHS are invited to attend the ribbon cutting, tour the new space, meet Coach Bjork and celebrate the start of the 2026–27 hockey season.
