WIAA State RUNNER-Up

MUHS Cross Country finished the season with a second-place finish in the WIAA state championships on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The team was led by junior Brendan Reardon's top 10 finish in a time of 15:50. He was followed by Eli North, Jack Kwiatt, Charlie Cary, Andres Campos, Charlie Kwiatt and Joe Walters.

The finish improved on their state ranking of No. 3 and fourth-place finish last year. See full team and individual results.

The team earned their trip to state by finishing first in the WIAA Division 1 Sectional 7 Meet with 43 points, 24 points ahead of Brookfield East in second place. Brendan Reardon and Eli North took home another 1-2 finish, each under 16 minutes for the 5K. They were followed by Jack Kwiatt, Charlie Cary and Andres Campos, with all five scorers finishing in the top 17.

This year's Hilltopper team finished first in the Greater Metro Conference, led by junior Brendan Reardon's individual title and sophomore Eli North following him closely in second place.

Tryouts

Tryout information for 2024-25

Cross country (no cut) starts August 19

Cross country workouts begin on Monday, August 19 at 3:30 pm in Presidents Hall. Bring a lock to secure a locker in room A-13 (The Kearney Cross Country Locker Room) and gather in the Auditorium by 3:30 pm. Cross country is a no-cut sport and accepts athletes who are willing to work every day to become a better runner. Cross country welcomes athletes at the conclusion of soccer and volleyball tryouts.

Required forms

ATHLETIC FORMS AND DOCUMENTS

Forms must be on file in the Athletics Office in order for a student-athlete to be eligible to participate in any MUHS sport. Students cannot participate in tryouts unless the updated forms are submitted.

if a student-athlete has not had a sports physical in the past two years, one will be required before the student-athlete will be allowed to participate in practice or competition. The physical must be after April 1, 2023.

Download and complete these two forms. Return to the Main Office, Attn: Angela Balistrieri. Please do not give forms to coaches.

HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

Anyone participating in interscholastic athletics or competitive club sports must have health insurance. All athletes must be protected with personal health insurance in case of injury. Marquette University High School does not provide health insurance coverage for athletes. In any sport, especially contact sports, there is a risk of injury. Injuries to organs, paralysis and even death may occur. Students without health insurance may not practice or compete in any sport.

If a student would like to participate in a sport and does not have insurance, Marquette High has information regarding a school-year policy provided by K & K Insurance where the family is able to purchase coverage for the school year.
