WIAA rules determine the golf season officially begins March 31 and continues through the WIAA State Tournament, June 9 and 10,  2025.

Marquette High will host a Player and Parent Informational Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. in Presidents Hall. We will discuss the season and answer any questions about the upcoming tryouts. This meeting is required for all participants.

Tryouts are to be held the week of March 31 and will be completed as soon as possible, hopefully by April 3. Positions will be determined by scores of rounds, summer experience, player’s previous experience and the coach’s discretion. All players are expected to be ready on the first day of tryouts. Candidates will be responsible for green fees and range balls during tryouts.

During tryouts all green fees are the responsibility of the players 

Freshmen tryouts are at Brookfield Hills 3:50 pm start times ($14.00 per 9 holes) 
All other players are at Brown Deer, 3:50 pm start times ($16.50 per 9 holes)

Because of the weather this year, tryouts will still be based on rounds of golf, but will start when courses open.

Wisconsin weather in the spring is unpredictable and can be cold, wet or snowy during tryouts and the season. All players are expected to be here for the three to four days of tryouts. Each candidate must have a physical and the following forms on file with the AD’s office before he can try out: Athletic Code, Concussion waiver, FERPA, WIAA Eligibility Form. 

Final cuts are made to determine the 30 positions that make up the MUHS golf teams. The freshman team is typically made up of ten players. The remaining 20 positions will be for Varsity, Varsity Reserves and JV teams. The best players, regardless of year, are eligible for these teams.

ATHLETIC FORMS AND DOCUMENTS

Forms must be on file in the Athletics Office in order for a student-athlete to be eligible to participate in any MUHS sport. Students cannot participate in tryouts unless the updated forms are submitted.

if a student-athlete has not had a sports physical in the past two years, one will be required before the student-athlete will be allowed to participate in practice or competition. The physical must be after April 1, 2023.

Download and complete these two forms. Return to the Main Office, Attn: Angela Balistrieri. Please do not give forms to coaches.

HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

Anyone participating in interscholastic athletics or competitive club sports must have health insurance. All athletes must be protected with personal health insurance in case of injury. Marquette University High School does not provide health insurance coverage for athletes. In any sport, especially contact sports, there is a risk of injury. Injuries to organs, paralysis and even death may occur. Students without health insurance may not practice or compete in any sport.

If a student would like to participate in a sport and does not have insurance, Marquette High has information regarding a school-year policy provided by K & K Insurance where the family is able to purchase coverage for the school year.
