March 13, 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT Dear Parents/Guardians,
With the evolving situation of the Coronavirus pandemic, Marquette High School continues to monitor the public health information in an effort to protect the health of our students and community. In following the State Department of Health Services order for school closure and CDC recommendation of social distancing to slow the spread, Marquette High School will cancel face-to-face classes effective Monday, March 16.
MUHS will move to online instruction, while providing cura personalis to our students. Students will continue to receive academic support, advising, and counseling services. We have developed the following timeline as we migrate to online learning.
Monday, March 16 Your son will not report to school for classes, but if he needs to pick up any course materials and textbooks from school, he may do so any time on Monday between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Administrators will be available to students during this time to answer any questions and address any issues about the shift to online learning. On a separate note, be aware that teachers will inform your son of learning directives and class information by email or through the class Moodle Page as we shift to online learning.
Tuesday, March 17 Assignments will be posted on Moodle or sent by email by 8:00 a.m. so that students can work on their required assignments and readings.
Wednesday, March 18 Students will begin online instruction. They will learn to use different learning platforms for classes.
Monday, April 6 We will plan for students to return to school pending any further developments.
In the coming days, you will receive timely updates from MUHS along with specific expectations for students and educators in an online learning environment. As we make these mandatory adjustments, please know that our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to our MUHS family and to all those who have been affected by this unprecedented event. We continue to pray for the safety of all who are impacted by this health crisis. St. Ignatius pray for us!
Kind Regards,
Fr. Michael J. Marco, S.J. President
