OCTOBER 1, 2020 HILLTOPPER PARENT WEEKLY Dear Parents and Guardians,
In the survey, we asked about the areas of their greatest challenge and asked them to offer suggestions to create a more positive school experience while maintaining safety measures. I appreciate many of these suggestions and look forward to implementing these ideas.
Show your MUHS Spirit - Decorate your Front Door MUHS is sponsoring a door decorating spirit contest. Your son and members of your family are invited to decorate your front door to show your family's MUHS spirit. Photos of decorated doors should be submitted to info@muhs.edu by Saturday, Oct. 10. Please include your son's name and class year. Photos along with your student's name may appear on MUHS social media. The winner from each class will receive a Topper Pizza safely delivered by a member of the administrative team to your home during your son's next all-virtual day on Oct. 21. Topper may even make an appearance in your neighborhood. Spirit Week Activities Oct. 5-8 In addition to the family door decorating contest, the students are encouraged to participate in other fun themes and activities throughout the week.
Activities include: dress theme days, music & sitcoms at lunch, an Among Us gaming competition, and more. Hilltoppers@Home Learning Option Marquette HIgh is aware that some families, for a variety of health-related reasons, may not be comfortable sending their son to school during this pandemic. The school continues to provide remote learning for students who prefer that option. They will participate in the full Hilltoppers@Home program. The commitment to fully remote learning is generally for one quarter. It is not intended as a short-term solution because of convenience, childcare, travel or other reason. If you are interested in opting for your son to become or continue as a Hilltopper@Home for the second quarter please complete this form by 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. Please note that students who participated in the first quarter must recommit for the second quarter and that students in quarantine do not sign this agreement. MUHS Retreat Program Schedule We continue to adjust to the challenges posed by the Coronavirus. The retreat centers at which we usually hold our retreats remain closed at this time. As a result, we will hold this semester's retreats at MUHS. All MUHS retreat programs have been adapted to align with COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The dates for this year's retreats are listed below. Additional details will be made available in the next few weeks.
Senior Yearbook Photos and Quotes Due Oct. 2 Senior photos and quotes for the 2021 Flambeau yearbook are due Friday, Oct. 2. Senior photos must be a formal head-and-shoulder portrait. If your son will not have a traditional portrait taken, we will use his school ID photo for the yearbook. Senior quotes should be mature statements that are appropriate for all audiences and something your son will still appreciate long into the future. Senior quote requirements have been sent to students. Senior Portrait Information Counseling Department Questionnaire due Oct. 5 The Counseling Department questionnaire collects information that you feel is important for the Counseling Department to know to better support your son(s) at Marquette High this year. We ask that you please review the form to see if it is pertinent to your son's needs or situation. The information you share will be considered confidential, and you can direct us as to whom you would like us to disclose this information. You can also request that we not disseminate the information at all but just keep it on file in the Counseling Department. This questionnaire does not address documented learning issues.
