Student Bulletin As a way to keep your son updated on school news and events we send out a weekly bulletin every Friday morning. These bulletins are also found on the MUHS website. Please encourage your son to read these bulletins as well as watch daily announcements. Sophomore/Junior Service Update The school continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in the Milwaukee area. At this time, a majority of our service sites remain closed to volunteers. While some sites allow volunteers to sign up for service on an individual basis, many have placed group volunteering projects on hold, so it is difficult to coordinate the type of service projects we have traditionally offered through school. In light of the above, the service hour requirements for the fall semester have been lifted. Instead, we are encouraging sophomores and juniors to complete six hours of self-directed community service during the first semester. If students would like to track their hours, they can complete the Volunteer Service Log and drop it off in the Campus Ministry Center or email it to Mrs. Nunez. Campus Ministry will record hours submitted by students and add those hours to the student's x2vol service tracking account. For more information: 2020-21 Sophomore/Junior Service Update Student Flu Vaccination Clinic Please help us gauge interest in a possible flu vaccination clinic for MUHS students. If there is enough interest, we will arrange for Walgreens to set up a clinic at school so that students may receive their flu vaccination during the school day. Please take a moment to complete this short survey: Student Flu Vaccination Survey Sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences Available thru Oct. 27 The scheduler for the Parent-Teacher conferences closes Tuesday, Oct. 27, at midnight. If you are interested in attending conferences and you have not already done so, please sign up before the deadline. Questions can be directed to Asst. Principal for Academics Fran Maloney at maloney@muhs.edu. Scheduling Instructions Meet the MUHS School Counseling Department The school counseling department created a video so that parents can put faces to names, as the majority of the department is new, and to share a little about School Counseling programming. Video: Meet the Department Volunteer Sign-up for Topper Auction Work is underway for this year's Topper Auction on Saturday, April 24. This is our school's biggest and only fundraiser. It provides important funds for the needs of the school and supports our scholarship programs. Getting involved is easy. Just click on the volunteer link to see the ways in which you can help. UW-Milwaukee Virtual Express Admission Day with MUHS Nov. 19 UW-Milwaukee will be conducting Virtual Express Admission Appointments for MUHS seniors on Thursday, Nov. 19. This is a great opportunity for seniors to have their admission review conducted during a 15-minute appointment with UWM Admissions and receive an On-Site Express Admission Decision. Participation in this express day is not required to pursue admission to UWM but is a great service that UWM is offering to MUHS seniors. Detailed information, including a student's necessary actions steps to participate in this day, was emailed to all seniors on Oct. 19 from Mrs. Sullivan. If your son has UWM on his college list, please encourage him to consider.
