"God is with the peacemakers, not with those who use violence" – Pope Francis, March 2, 2022 |

| Dear Parents and Guardians, Today begins Freshman Retreat 22! We keep our retreat leaders and each young man in the Class of 2025 in our thoughts during this time of laughter, class unity, and prayer. Retreats are an integral part of the MUHS experience as students grow in their faith and love for one another. |

This week we began a time of year that in itself is a type of retreat - the season of Lent. May we pause in the busyness of our lives to more intentionally encounter God through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. As we walk in these days of Lent, may we also become more aware of God's presence in the midst of personal struggles and the sufferings of our world. Tragically, this past week we have witnessed much human suffering and injustice in Ukraine. This crisis cries out that we respond to Pope Francis's call to be peacemakers and offer compassion to the people of Ukraine. Fr. Marco and I were contacted by the Provincial of the Midwest Province of the Jesuits, Fr. Kiser S.J. He informed us that the Jesuit ministries in Poland are arranging for shelter, food, and other necessities to aid Ukrainian refugees. He invited the MUHS community and all Midwest Jesuit schools to join the Province in providing much-needed assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Poland through Jesuit Relief Services (JRS). If you or your family would like to contribute to the relief efforts, donation instructions can be found below. We are assured that 100% of all donations will be directed to relief efforts to help alleviate suffering. During the next 40 days may our actions bring peace, hope, and love to others. And let us pray fervently for our students that their hearts may be on fire for the love of God and one another. Lenten Blessings, Mr. Jeff Monday Principal Jesuit Relief Services for Ukrainian Relief If by check, donations may be sent to the lockbox address: Midwest Jesuits PO Box 6713 Carol Stream, IL 60197-6713 If by ACH: Bank name: North Shore Bank ABA #: 071925444 Account name: USA Midwest Province Account #: 6350026241 |

Confident Brothers Education and Therapy Group Does your student feel anxious? Does he experience uncontrollable worry? Does he have sleep problems or an upset stomach when he thinks about school or stressful events? Often anxiety and excessive worry drives people to avoid the things that scare them, often missing out on life or school events. Confident Brothers is an education and therapy group designed to identify and manage anxiety symptoms and develop long-term stress reduction strategies. Confident Brothers will meet weekly for 10 sessions. Group therapy can help your student realize that he is experiencing similar situations as his classmates; he is not alone. For more information, including steps to participate and financial assistance, please download this document. If you have any general questions about this group, please have your son stop in to see Mrs. Julie Bremer (Counseling Department, Room 118A), call ext. 3312 or email jbremer@chw.org.
