| Dear Parents and Guardians, Did you know that innovation is at the core of a Jesuit education? Jesuit schools form students to imagine a better future and discover possibilities in a rapidly changing world around them. |

Marquette High has a tradition of preparing students for academic disciplines that rely heavily on math, science, and technology as their foundation. Our strong curriculum in math and science, along with an emphasis on the humanities, expand students' abilities to solve problems that require innovative thinking, imaginative response, and concern for others. Students gain applied and practical experience through in-class projects, labs and many STEM-focused co-curricular activities at our school. One such STEM-focused co-curricular activity is the Hilltopper Robotics Team 1732 where students develop leadership, teamwork, and innovative thinking while reinforcing the core values of MUHS. Last weekend the team participated in the Wisconsin Regional competition at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. In fierce competition the team finished in first place and earned the Excellence in Engineering Award for their robot design and technical accomplishments. Beyond the team's achievements, they model our Catholic values of being "men for others" in service to the community. Senior Caleb Yatachak created this video, "More Than Robots," showing the team's spirit and commitment to service. I was inspired to witness the team in action this past weekend, as they demonstrated intellect, work ethic, and camaraderie throughout the competition. The team will compete in one more Regional Competition next weekend and then on to the World Competition in Houston during Easter Break. Join me in congratulating Team 1732! May we continue to remain true to our Jesuit education at MUHS as we prepare the next generation of innovators. It is not surprising the large number of Marquette High grads who aim to make the world a better place through the professions of medicine, engineering, and science. AMDG, Jeff Monday |
