| Dear Parents and Guardians, It is gratifying to witness the large number of MUHS students who chose to participate in the pastoral offerings of the school. This morning the Orgullo Latino Homeroom sponsored our Thursday liturgy as we began the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15). Students packed the Chapel for this Mass and later this afternoon a large group of seniors, student-leaders, and faculty return from the Kairos Retreat 141. | | | A board member sent me a recent study that examined the differences between men and women in different aspects of American life. One of the areas studied was the growing gender divide in the practice of faith where men are shown to be less active in religious pursuits than women. This gap widens steeply during a person's life. Later in life, 63% of women have been shown to believe in God with no doubts, compared to only 53% of men. As I read this study, I was consoled by the countercultural impact an MUHS education has in raising young men to be religious and active in their faith lives. We strive to grow each graduate to know that God loves him and he returns that love through prayer and service. The liturgies, retreats, service projects, Adoration, Sacraments, daily prayer, examens, and Theology courses are aimed at growing your son to experience a personal relationship with God and seek to recognize the work of God in others. As your son leaves the nurturing environments of his home and MUHS, he will be prepared to respond to societal pressures where the practice of faith is challenged. Thank you for providing your son an all-boys Catholic, Jesuit high school education that knows and responds to the unique needs of males as they defend and live their faith in college and later in life. MUHS Transcript PDF to each Senior: Mrs. Sullivan from the College Counseling Team is in progress with sending a personal email to each senior with a PDF attachment of his MUHS transcript. As this is a personalized project, emails will span from Sept. 14-16 in alpha order from A-Z. Please encourage your senior to watch for this email that will come from "College Counseling" and save the transcript PDF to a safe place on his computer. The transcript will be especially helpful and important for his college application process. Information about completed and in progress coursework is often needed for college application completion. Some colleges (including the UW system application) offer the opportunity for students to upload an unofficial transcript directly into their application. This PDF will serve that purpose. -
Transcript Requests for College Applications are Underway: Seniors who have submitted a college application need to take the next step to see Ms. Sahagún in College Counseling to request a transcript. Ms. Sahagún is available on a drop-in, no appointment needed, basis throughout the day (including before school, lunch and after school) to go over what students have submitted. Students should plan to spend a few minutes with her for each request. Transcript requests should be made with Ms. Sahagún at least two weeks before a college deadline. If your student has questions, have him stop in College Counseling – we are happy to help. JUNIOR & SENIOR PARENTS: Upcoming College Information Events -
