| Dear Parents and Guardians, Gratitude is a hallmark of Ignatian spirituality and is a central component of a simple prayer we pray each day at MUHS, the Examen. Through the Daily Examen, students are called to reflect on the many gifts they have received and how they may respond in generosity to these blessings. |

|
While the Examen may bring students in closer relationship with God, several studies have shown that having a focus on gratitude can positively impact mental health. People who habitually count their blessings tend to be happier and more fulfilled. They also tend to have lower stress and more satisfying interpersonal relationships. In the last several days our Counseling Department has invited students to stop by their offices to write down some of the ways they are rooted in gratitude. Students responded by expressing their gratitude for such blessings as their health, family, and MUHS brothers. Next Tuesday, we will celebrate and give thanks for these gifts during our all-school Thanksgiving Mass. On behalf of the faculty and staff I want to express our deep appreciation to you, our parents. Thank you for providing us the privilege to partner with you in your sons' education and formation. It is because of your dedicated support and trust that the mission of MUHS is made possible. May you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving and restful break! In Gratitude, Mr. Jeff Monday Principal |

Dec. 1 College Transcript Requests: Seniors have been reminded that now is the time to see Ms. Sahagún to request transcripts for upcoming Dec. 1 college application deadlines - Marquette, SLU, Xavier, Loyola Chicago, U of MN-Twin Cities are a few popular Dec. 1 deadline colleges. Students can still be working on their applications when they talk with her. Ms. Sahagún is available on a drop-in, no-appointment needed basis throughout the day including before school, lunch and after school. Share Admission News: As your senior begins to receive admission decisions from his applied-to colleges, please encourage him to stop in and share his news with the College Counseling team. Despite what you might think, our team only knows about his college's decision by him telling us. We want to celebrate any good news or offer our advice on next steps if he receives a request for additional information or a waitlist or deferral decision. Thank you for your support. Weekly Scholarship Shout Out List in Student Bulletin: Just a reminder that every weekly Student Bulletin includes a section for our seniors with a Scholarship Shout-Out list of scholarship opportunities to explore. A student's first step in any scholarship process is to see Ms. Sahagún BEFORE he starts an application. Ms. Sahagún can help with recommendation letters (if required) and other pertinent details to assist him with completing the application.
JUNIOR PARENTS - Scoir Parent Account Activation: All juniors have officially registered with Scoir (pronounced "score") and are actively using the platform to begin the career and college exploration process. Please refer to the email sent to junior parents that outlines the easy steps toward parent account activation.
Did you miss our Junior College Information Program on Nov. 9? Thank you to so many of our Class of 2024 families who attended our information night last week – it was great to have you with us in person to begin the college search conversation. If you missed the program, please have your junior stop in the College Counseling Center, Room 119, to pick up the Junior College Night information program folder that was distributed that evening. The folder includes a number of college search handouts including an easy to follow action steps handout that walks students/parents through very reasonable, doable actions you can take from this winter through summer to keep you on track with the college process. Nothing overwhelming we promise. Mr. Hennicke and Mrs. Holahan will begin individual meetings with juniors starting in late January running through the spring.
