Positive Pooch: Dog Safety Training and Puppy Play

For boys entering grades 6, 7, 8

Join Goldendoodle and registered therapy dog, Sam for a fun week of dog safety training and puppy play! In this class you will learn how to read canine body language, respect a dog’s boundaries and safely interact with pooches. We will cover basic dog training techniques using the positive reinforcement method. Additionally, we will play doggy indoor games (perfect for super hot or rainy days) and create healthy canine treats.

Introduction to Sheepshead

For boys entering grades 5, 6, 7, 8

Impress your grandparents at your next family gathering by learning the official card game of the city of Milwaukee! Students will learn the rules and strategies, engage in some teach-while-you-play exercises, and finish the week with the first annual Summer EXPLORE Sheepshead Tournament! No previous experience necessary.

Let’s Play Cribbage

For boys entering grades 5, 6, 7, 8

15-2, 15-4 and a pair is six... who is ready to play a little cribbage? Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned cribbage player, this two-day camp will focus on learning the rules and strategies of cribbage playing as well as engage in some friendly game play. The second day will feature a round-robin style tournament to crown the MUHS Summer EXPLORE Cribbage Champion! Put down that cell phone, grab yourself a cribbage board and get ready for some good old-fashioned fun!

Forensics Day Camp – Coed Program

For boys and girls entering grades 6, 7, 8

This camp is for beginners as well as students who have competed on their middle school team. Whether you’re focused on preparing for the 2022-23 season or just wishing to build self-confidence and poise, this camp will help you achieve your goals in a noncompetitive, supportive environment. Campers will have an opportunity to try many of the 18 categories in the Mid-Level Forensics Association of Wisconsin to find the best fit for them. Other areas of focus will include voice and breath control, peer coaching and teamwork. This year’s camp will be led by MUHS Alumnus, Jacob Marx '21, 2020 WFCA Poetry Interpretation State Champion.

Advanced Forensics Day Camp – Coed Program

For boys and girls entering 9th grade, or 7th / 8th graders with prior forensics experience

Suitable for seasoned competitors or beginners entering high school, this camp is designed to prepare you for the 2022-23 forensics season. In a fun, supportive atmosphere, campers will build on their strengths to refine their communication skills and learn the art of effective delivery. Other areas of focus will include voice and breath control, peer coaching and teamwork. This year’s camp will be led by MUHS Alumnus, Jacob Marx '21, 2020 WFCA Poetry interpretation State Champion. Students will receive intensive personalized coaching, team-oriented training, and a great piece to take into their future forensics season.

June 27 – 30 (Monday – Thursday)

Introduction to Architectural Design

For boys entering grades 5, 6, 7, 8

Students will learn the basics of Architectural Design, which include how to use a scale to draw a simple floor plan and building elevation. Time will also be spent sketching interesting architectural features to practice observational skills. An intro level discussion of historical building styles as they relate to Milwaukee neighborhoods will also complete the class time.

Rugby Camp

For boys entering grades 6, 7, 8, 9

Head rugby coach Colin Dillon will provide you with basic instruction on the fundamentals of this game that is fast-growing in popularity. Sessions will focus on individual and positional skills, as well as team skills and concepts. No prior rugby experience necessary!
