Visual and Performing Arts
The visual and performing arts are considered essential components in the education of students at Marquette University High School and the successful fulfillment of its mission.
We strive to prepare our students to be creative and critical thinkers, artists, participants and patrons in the arts through outstanding teaching and background preparation. We work to create an interdisciplinary, intercultural, and creative community. The students are trained to be producers of art and a source of knowledge and motivation for the larger community. We encourage the exploration of values, attitudes, and standards through the arts by introducing the student to a broad range of concepts focusing on the human response to moral, historical, philosophical and creative interests while fostering creativity and the dissemination of information through open and free discussion.
The fine arts also provide learners with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. These are the very fibers of the fabric known as our American culture. As a Jesuit school, we emphasize the uniqueness and acceptance of each person, encourage a lifelong openness to growth; love and acceptance of self and provide a realistic knowledge of the world and its structures. The highest standards in all things are our aspiration along with preparing our students for active participation in the community for the service of others.
All students must complete one-half credit in Fine Arts (Visual Arts or Music) in order to graduate from Marquette University High School; however, those students with an aptitude in the arts typically take a fine arts course each semester throughout their four years.
Visual Arts
In Visual Arts, Level One Foundation courses are offered in 2D Design, 3D Design. and Drawing.
Level Two Specialty courses are offered in Photography, Painting, Ceramics, Advanced Drawing, and AP Studio Art.
Students have several opportunities to share their art with the Marquette High community.

Music
The Fine Arts Department offers several courses and the opportunity to be part of a performing arts group. Students can join one of several Jazz Labs or Chorus. Courses include Jazz Labs 1-4, Chorus, and Select Chorus as well as Computer Assisted Music. Under the direction of two musical directors, students come together for two annual concerts and other performance opportunities.

The Prep Players, the drama organization of the school, is open to students of all four years. There are opportunities in Prep Players for any students manifesting an interest in acting, singing, dancing, stagecraft, lighting, sound, music, and theater house management.
The high points of the Prep Players' year are staging and performing in the annual winter play and the spring musical. Girls from area high schools are invited to audition for these two productions. The Prep Players also help stage Senior Follies in the fall.

Fine Arts night
Fine Arts Night is held in the spring. The event provides an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and work from the school year through the following:
