HOMECOMING DANCE - "MUHS World Cup"

Registration Deadline - Sept. 8 by 3:10 p.m.

In order to guarantee that students and dates receive t-shirts, permission slips must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 8. Any permission slips received after the deadline will not receive a Homecoming t-shirt, but may still attend.

Dance Details:

• Doors open at 7 p.m. - no one will be admitted after 7:30 p.m. without permission from the Dean of Students. 

• Doors re-open at 9:30 p.m. with the dance ending at 10 p.m.

• When you check in on the night of the dance, you will give your name at the check-in table to gain admittance.

We encourage you to know your son or daughter’s plans that evening.

General information: We would ask your support in working to make the dance an enjoyable and memorable event for all involved. To ensure a safe and trouble-free evening students are expected to act in accordance with all Marquette High expectations. No dance guests over 18 years of age will be permitted to attend without the permission of the Dean of Students. Guests must be at least current freshmen in high school.

Dress Code: Students must dress in a manner that demonstrates understanding that this event is a Catholic, high school dance and not a social occasion outside of Marquette University High School. Modesty is our expectation. This is a semi-formal dance. Students in grades 9 through 11 must dress in semi-formal attire. Only 12^th graders are permitted to dress in theme. No hats, sunglasses, or any other garment that hides a student’s face or eyes may be worn. Administration’s decisions regarding attire are final. Additionally, for safety reasons shoes are to be worn at all times.

Breathalyzer: In keeping with our goals, the school, its faculty and administration reserve the right to use a breathalyzer with any student suspected of using alcohol. Additionally, Marquette High administration will conduct random breathalyzer testing with both boys and girls at the dance Saturday night. This will be performed in line with the procedures established in the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Controlled Substances policy found in the MUHS Student/Parent Handbook. The policy reads, “…testing may occur at social events such as dances or athletic contests. On these occasions, testing could occur randomly and without suspicion. The inherent risks increase under these circumstances and MUHS considers these events important AODA safety concerns.”

Dancing: Dancing that involves close physical contact of a sexual nature is inappropriate for a Catholic school dance, and will not be tolerated. We ask for and expect student and parental support on this issue. The following expectation will be followed by all dance attendees:

• Follow the expectations set forth and promoted through the dance.
• Follow the directions of the chaperones while participating at this dance.
• Dance appropriately and do not dance in a way that is suggestive of indecent behavior.

We ask for and expect students' support on this issue by your actions at MUHS dances. Students have a multitude of other acceptable dance styles that they can enjoy. If a student is found in violation of this expectation, s/he is expected to cooperate fully with chaperones and may be required to leave the dance. 

Important: All students and parents need to review this information before attending Homecoming. Students must understand that should a violation of MUHS policies occur, parents may be called and students may be asked to leave the dance. If a violation of the law occurs, then police intervention may be necessary.
