New - Daily Schedule for the 2025-2026 School Year

MUHS is dedicated to providing a holistic educational experience that nurtures the mind, heart, and soul of each student. Guided by the Ignatian principle of cura personalis (care for the whole person), we are thrilled to introduce an updated daily schedule for the next school year designed to support academic growth, personal well-being, and a more balanced school life.

Since September 2022, a task force has been evaluating our current bell schedule to identify ways to enhance the MUHS experience. After careful consideration, the academic administration has decided to adopt a revised schedule with the following features designed to provide expanded opportunities for student learning and wellbeing:

  • Extended Learning Periods - Each class will meet for an extended period (81 minutes) once a week, allowing for deeper learning experiences such as labs, project-based activities, and peer collaboration. This extra time mimics the extended learning periods of many collegiate courses and will help students engage more thoroughly in their studies
  • Balanced Work Schedule - Classes will meet four times per week instead of five. This adjustment offers a more balanced, less hectic weekly pace, with fewer classes to prepare for on the days of extended learning (typically Wednesdays and Thursdays.) Though weekly class meetings are fewer, total instructional time will increase slightly with the addition of extended learning days.
  • Flexible Time - Twice a week, students will have "flex time" built into their schedule, providing opportunities for academic support, individual advising, and enrichment activities tailored to students’ interests and goals. This flexible time supports academic achievement, personal development, and community building.
  • Homeroom and Intramurals - Students will still have scheduled time during the school week for specialty homerooms and intramural activities, which offer a chance to decompress, connect with peers, and recharge. These periods also allow students to engage in community-building activities and find balance amid their academic responsibilities.
  • Thursday Liturgies - Mass will continue to be offered during the school day on Thursday mornings. Since only three classes will be held on Thursdays we anticipate more students will opt to participate in this weekly liturgical celebration. (Thursdays will remain late starts with classes beginning at 9:00 a.m.)
