Summer 2026 Reading Requirements

Students are required to complete the summer reading assignment prior to returning to school in August 2026.

• Freshmen - In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner 
• Sophomores - The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger 
• Juniors:

  • AP English Language (Cavanaugh, Ibarra) - In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

  • Expository Writing (Downey, Kahle, Neubeck) - Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose and David Mamet

  • Perspectives in Science Fiction (Waliszewski) Choose one of the following:

    • The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu and Ken Liu

    • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

    • Failure Is Not an Option: Mission Control From Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond by Gene Kranz

    • Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler

  • Virtue & Vice (Downey, Zunac) - The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
